Marietta to Richmond

 Friday, August 16, 2024 It's nine o'clock and we're out the door!  I had time to stretch and Ginger had time for a phone call with Andy!!  She puts our next destination, Jeremy and Cathy's house, in the GPS and we're on the road.  Jeremy is Ginger's nephew and he and his familylive in Richmond, VA, with their twelve year old son, Dylon.  We should be there around six. Not bad for two weeks on the road! Ginger has made a tuna and cream cheese spread and has brought crackers and lebne and peaches, so we're all set and hit the road running.  The miles tick by and the conversation flows and at one point we wonder at the fact that we never run out of things to say.  We pass a couple of interesting vehicles.  One is a little tear-drop shapes trailer with words painted on the back.  "I go where I'm towed to."  And there's a big semi with "inedible" on its rear end!  And a newly-engaged lady's car with hearts and "the future Mrs...

Last Day in Potsdam

 Sunday, August 25, 2024 Whatever we want to see and do, today's the day to do it! I went to bed so early last night that I can get up and write the whole entry, with photos, for yesterday's adventure before anyone else is even awake.  Well, I did hear David briefly, but I think even he went back to sleep! There's a bit of discussion and it is agreed that a trip to a park with a lake ad beach is what some of us need.  Kristian knows a spot and she leads Ben, Elizabeth, David, Ginger, and me to a spot a short car ride away.  The water is. too cold for this Florida girl, but the others get about thigh deep.  Even Ben decides that a swim out to the floating dock isn't worth it, especially since you can't use the ladder. After the novelty of building sand castles and burying feet wears off we're ready to head home and see what other mischief we can get in to.  We stop at the grocery store to get lunch makings but in the parking lot we decide that will take too ...

Dale's Exhibition and on to Potsdam

 Wednesday, August 21, 2024 The Museum doesn't open until eleven o'clock and the Inn offers a continental breakfast, so we're taking advantage of that! It's a relaxed morning and a contrast to the hustle bustle of NYC! The continental breakfast includes delicious pastries and hard-boiled eggs and bananas and a small citrus fruit that looks like a calamondin but isn't and coffee and tea.  And, more interestingly, it includes a stimulating conversation with the woman who runs the inn.  She isn't Heidi, because that was the original owner, and we've taken to calling her Not-Heidi! Oh my goodness!  Ginger has found her favorite food in the whole world! When other people want chocolate birthday cake, Ginger wants rhubarb pie!! She suggests that we go have a look at the Mexican restaurant that is right up the hill and when we do Ginger strikes up a conversation in Spanish with the owner.  She is a remarkable artist and shows us photos of some of her work on her ph...
